Hyrox gujarat 2026: a four-week training plan and the kit to train with

  • Oct 26 2026

HYROX is coming to Gujarat. HYROX Gujarat runs from 26 to 28 November 2026 at the Helipad Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar. If you have signed up, you have about four weeks of proper training left. That is enough time to get sharper, as long as you train the race you are actually going to run.

We have been setting up gyms in India for 30 years, and over the last two seasons more of our customers have asked for help building HYROX corners in their gyms and homes. This guide covers what the race asks of you, what changed in the rules this season, a simple four week plan, and the equipment that helps most.

What the race asks of you

Every HYROX race follows the same format: eight 1 km runs, each followed by one workout station. The stations come in a fixed order: SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls. Weights depend on your division, so check the official HYROX event page for your category before you plan your sessions.

The race is mostly running, but most people lose their time in the transitions and on the stations late in the race, when their legs are already tired. Your training should copy that: running on tired legs, and station work done after running.

Rule changes for the 2026/27 season

HYROX published clarifications to its rulebook for this season, reported by Hybrid Fitness Media in June 2026. A few of them change how you should practise:

  • Every station must be finished in full. Failing to complete a station now means disqualification, so pacing matters more than ever.
  • Sandbag drops cost 15 seconds each. Two drops no longer mean an automatic disqualification, but every drop is a time penalty. Practise lunges with the bag held steady, even when you are tired.
  • Face forward on the sled push. You must face the direction you are moving. If you have been practising by turning around and pushing with your back, change that now.
  • Stay seated on the rower until a judge confirms your distance.
  • SkiErg jumping is allowed, as long as your feet come back to the base plate.
  • Only event chalk is allowed during the race. Get used to the grip you will have on the day.

A simple four week plan

This plan assumes you can already run 5 km comfortably and train four or five days a week. If you are newer than that, cut the volume by a third and focus on finishing.

Weeks 1 and 2: build

  • Two run sessions: one easy run of 40 to 50 minutes and one session of 1 km repeats at your target race pace, with short rest.
  • Two compromised sessions: run 1 km, then go straight into one station. Pair the ski with the row, and the carry with the lunges. Four to six rounds.
  • One strength session: squats, deadlifts or trap bar lifts, and lunges. Heavy enough to be challenging, never to failure.

Week 3: race practice

  • Do one half simulation: four runs and four stations in race order, at race effort.
  • Note where you slowed down. That is your focus for the last week.
  • Keep one easy run and one short strength session.

Week 4: taper

  • Cut your total training by about half. Keep a little intensity, such as three 1 km runs at race pace.
  • Rehearse transitions: where you take off your jacket, how you grip the farmers carry handles, how you set up for wall balls.
  • Sleep, eat as you normally do, and travel to Gandhinagar with a day to spare if you can.

The equipment that helps most

You do not need a full HYROX venue to train well. You need the machines that are hardest to replace and enough space to run between them. Our HYROX training equipment range brings these together.

SkiErg and rower

These are the two machine stations, and each is 1,000 m in the race. The Concept2 SkiErg2 is the standard machine at most events. If floor space is tight, the Afton Ski Station mounts on a rack. For rowing, compare the Concept2 RowErg with the JetStream R-3500C; our JetStream vs Concept2 comparison explains the differences.

Carries and lunges

Grip often fails before the legs do. A pair of Octo HYROX kettlebells lets you train the farmers carry at race weight. Our farmers carry guide has the drills. For leg strength, a trap bar with bumper plates is one of the safest ways to lift heavy.

Sled work and conditioning

Sleds need a long run of turf, which most gyms in India do not have. Heavy resisted sprints build the same leg drive. The Afton Dash Run Rocket uses a flywheel and a harness for resisted sprints in a small footprint. It is not a sled, but it trains the push off you need for one. An air bike such as the Storm 1.0 is useful for hard intervals that spare your knees.

Flooring

Burpee broad jumps, lunges and kettlebell work need a floor that grips and absorbs impact. Afton interlocking tiles work for a home corner or a full functional zone. See our gym flooring range for more options.

Training for HYROX in a gym or society

If you run a gym or a residential society gym in Gujarat, this is a good month to add a small HYROX zone. A SkiErg, a rower, a pair of kettlebells, some open floor and a marked running loop are enough for members to train together before race day. Our dealers in Ahmedabad and Rajkot can visit, look at your space and suggest a layout. See our society gym setup page for how we plan these projects.
